Routers
Routers are essentially the heart of your computer network, without one, you won’t be able to connect to one of our awesome broadband plans.
Secondarily, it is important for us to understand you if you are asking us questions about a router.
Here are simple suggestions:
-
Router – it sounds kind of like “powder.”
-
Please don’t say “rooter” unless you’re English and fresh from the UK.
If you already have high-speed Internet or have had a small network installed at your home or office, you know you have a router, but don’t know what the router does or why it’s needed. The router manages the local traffic on your network. It sends the information between all the devices on your network to the right place like your hard drive or printer.
The router also acts as the gate between your network and the internet. Routers are often called ‘Gateways’ for that reason. They also protect your network from undesirables by putting a wall that blocks their attacks.
Routers can be wireless or wired, DSL or UFB so if you aren’t sure give us a call to discuss the best option for your network.
